Student Artwork

Sara's art education approach emphasizes the creating of art and the use of imagination for self-expression, and aims to develop a deeper understanding of the role of the arts throughout history and the relevance of art education in the development of higher order thinking skills, problem solving ability, and increased motivation to learn.

In this unit, Sara's students studied design, color, and the work of Vincent Van Gogh.
Each student did an oil pastel enlargement from one small square of a print of "Starry Night". Students are proud of the result which includes all 20 of their enlarged 8"x8" squares hung together.

Each square was done by a different student.

Here, Sara stands with an exhibit of her students' work held at the "Artists in the Country" Show organized by art patron and educator, Ann Chuk, in September at her beautiful location in West Woodstock, CT.
